Date: 10/29/20 Time: 4:37pm Owner: Thomas K. Location: near Flandreau, South Dakota    Materials: Plastic lenses  Black frames  Condition: Newer (4-months-old) Type of glasses: Readers The story behind the glasses: These glasses belong to my dad. He generally does not wear them much since he only bought these readers at Dollar General the day before he was going in for his DOT physical so he could renew his commercial driver's license. Since he is a truck driver he needs to renew that license regularly. In the current situation, our country is facing I would argue that he is an essential worker. Anyway as to why the glasses are on a stuffed deer head. My dad is very big into hunting. So, though I never really see him wearing these glasses I see this deer head every time I walk into our family room. I have always liked the look of it and have been looking at it for years. One of my friends remarked that the deer looks like he is saying, "Yes, do you want someth...

Glasses who like their coffee

Date: 10/29/20 Time: 4:30pm Owner: LaRae K. Location: near Flandreau, South Dakota    Materials: Plastic lenses  Black and turquoise frames  Condition: Newer (3 months old) Type of glasses: Readers The story behind the glasses: These are a pair of reading glasses that belong to my mother. Now unlike the other three pairs of glasses that I have posted about, I have seen my mom wear these glasses several times before. If she is not wearing them they are usually on her head or laying on the table. She usually has these ones on when she is reading something on the computer. Another time I see her wearing them is when she is playing a game on her phone called Wordscapes. She will be wearing her glasses, taking regular sips from her coffee mug, and playing her game. She has no problem admitting that she needs them to read small print. Also, I am used to seeing her wearing these glasses at last a few times a week.

Date: 10/22/20 Time: 8:18pm Owner: Julie S. Location: near Flandreau, South Dakota    Materials: Plastic lenses  Black and grey frames  Condition: Old (8-years-old) Type of glasses: Readers The story behind the glasses: Well now that Teddy looks like he trying to read that car manual. In any case those glasses do make him look smart. Now those glasses belong to my friend Julie. She has never needed glasses in her live but these glasses do help her read print. Before she got them she found out that "Apparently holding a book 2 feet away from your face is not normal." She adamant about not wearing them all the time, only wearing them when she is reading print. Otherwise, she usually takes pictures of whatever she is trying to read with her phone. Then she can zoom in so she can read it without her glasses. The only real positive thing she said about her glasses is they make her look smart. I have not seen her in these glasses, at least I cannot remember seeing her in t...

Date: 10/21/20 Time: 5:30pm Owner: Heidi S. Location: Duluth, Minnesota   Materials: Plastic lenses  Black frames with tan bottoms on the front Condition: Newer (8-months-old) Type of glasses: Prescription The story behind the glasses: These glasses are owned by my cousin Heidi. Though we don't see each other as often as we wish I still feel very close to her. Though I honestly cannot rememeber if I have ever seen with her glasses on. I didn't even know she had glasses until my Aunt Cindy mentioned she had them. Not that I mind that's just another thing we have in common after all. I have known Heidi all my life and she is a very kind considerate person. I still remember when she used to eat the skin of the turkey on Christmas day! Ah good times good times.

These glasses make dogs look smart.

Location: near Flandreau, South Dakota    Materials: Plastic progressive lenses  Black frames  Condition: Older (1-year and a half old) Type of glasses: Prescription (Bifocals with progressive lenses)  The story behind the glasses: It seems my theme this week is glasses on animals which I don't mind since I like most of them except snakes. I. Do. Not. Like. Snakes. Anyway, the dog that these glasses are resting on is named Sandy. Both she and the glasses belong to my friend and neighbor Trevor Erickson. I have known him for most of my life and every time I see him he is wearing glasses. Over the years the style of them has changed a little bit, but like my Aunt Cindy, who owns the glasses in the previous post, I have not seen him without glasses on very often. Sandy, the dog is getting older but she is still as sweet as when I first met. She always loves to be petted. Though I don't know if those glasses are ma...

Date: 10/15/20 Time: 6:51pm Owner: Cindy S. Location: near St. Cloud, Minnesota   Materials: Plastic Lenses with a coating to reduce glare.  Black frames  Condition: Old (Lenses are 2-years old) Type of glasses: Prescription  The story behind the glasses: These glasses belong to my Aunt Cindy as you can see they are sitting on a lamb. She needs them because she has double vision and has trouble seeing in a straight line. The lenses of these glasses have a prism in them which helps her see. As long as I have known her she has had glasses. She has barely even considered the possibility of switching to contacts. I have gotten so used to seeing her with glasses on that I have to take a second look at her to make sure it's the same person.

Glasses gettin' chilly!

Date: 10/9/20 Time: 5:00pm Owner: Megan S. Location: A hotel in Hovelock, North Carolina  Materials:                 Plastic Lenses                Black frames Condition: New (1-month-old) Type of glasses: Prescription  Story behind the glasses: These glasses belong to my friend Megan who is on the East Coast right now. She has been wearing glasses since she was in 7th grade and she now 21. So, she had been wearing glasses for quite some time. She only got these glasses a month ago in Sioux Falls at Sioux falls family vision. These were the first pair of glasses she has had to pay for on her own. So, that is why she is taking especially good care of them. She tried to switch to contacts about a year ago and just could not get used to them. In her own words, "they were too dry and just overall uncomfortable." Which I do understand since I wear contact lenses myself...

Date: 10/8/20 Time: 5:00pm Owner: Sam H. Location: Sam's House Materials:                 Plastic Lenses                Black frames Condition: Older (1 year old) Type of glasses: Prescription  Story behind the glasses: These glasses belong to my friend Sam. He is kind of wacky and funny and he is a good friend. These glasses are pictured sitting on top of a speaker. Sam loves to jam out to his favorite music. Now, these glasses were made in a bit of a hurry. He had to get an eye exam to drive back to Madison on a Saturday night. He failed the eye exam when trying to renew his driver's license. So, he had to go get an eye exam taken, get the glasses made at LensCrafters and drive back to the DMV all in under three hours. He said it was, "Pretty much the most stressful 3 hours of my life lol." This was definitely one of the more entertaining stories I have been told abo...

Date: 10/1/20 Time: 5:31pm Owner: Makayla W. Location: The Marketplace on Dakota State University's Campus Materials:                 Plastic Lenses                Brown frames Condition: Old (Three years old) Type of glasses: Prescription  Story behind the glasses: These glasses belong to my friend Makayla. If you have been following my blog before I posted this post then you will know that I have posted another picture of a pair of glass owned by Makayla. Those were her new ones these are her old ones. One interesting thing about these glasses is they have been pulled off her face neuromas times by young kids. This is not surprising because of how she loves to be around young children. It makes sense that her chosen major is Biology Education. She wants to educate young people.

Glasses on a hat

Date: 10/1/20 Time: 5:30pm Owner: Renae N. Location: The Marketplace on Dakota State University's Campus Materials:                 Plastic Lenses                Brown and pale pink colored frames with diamonds on the sides Condition: Old (a year and a half  old) Type of glasses: Prescription  Story behind the glasses:  These glasses belong to my friend Renae. She has a very interesting personality. These glasses have been with her for about a year and half. She has a great love for music. In fact, one time when she was head banging her glasses were flung on off her head. Thankfully they did not break and where not damaged. I like music but I don't think I would be head banging with my glasses on.
